Sittong III near Ahaldara is a beauty of Shelpu Hills in Kurseong. Ahaldara is a mountaintop 5 kilometers from Latpanchar with a unique 360-degree vista. Ahaldara is well-known for its spectacular morning views and snow-capped Kanchenjunga peaks. On a clear day, the Gangtok, Kalimpong, Algara, Bagora, and Tinchuley hills may be seen from Ahaldara. It is situated within the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary.It's a birdwatcher's dream. The Mahananda WLS is home to 36 animals and over 240 bird species, the most sought-after of which is the endangered Rufous-necked Hornbill. Namthing Pokhari, a seasonal lake a few kilometers from Latpanchar, is one of the last remaining refuges for the highly rare Himalayan Salamander.
