Dawaipani is a little Himalayan settlement in the beautiful Darjeeling district of North Bengal. The settlement is located on the opposite hill of Darjeeling, which is famed for Tiger Hill. Dawaipani is only 17 kilometers from Darjeeling town, and the next intersection is Jorebunglow, which is only 7 kilometers away from this wonderful place. The village, where one can take a breather in the lap of nature, has only 135 - 150 dwellings. This village is a bird lover's heaven, and bird viewing is one of the top activities in Dawaipani. Dawaipani means 'Medicated water' in the native language, and the name is taken from the village's local river (Khola).
