Bishnupur
Bishnupur was the capital of the Malla dynasty, who ruled over the region from the 7th to the 18th century. During their reign, they patronized the arts, particularly terracotta architecture and classical music, which flourished in Bishnupur. The town became a center of culture, religion, and trade, attracting artisans, musicians, and merchants from various parts of India.

Gar Darja
The fort in Bishnupur has two majestic entrances. The villagers called them Gar Darja:. A little stone mound can be found beside 'Murcha Hill'. After passing past the small gate, there is a large gate that acts as the entrance to the Bishnupur Royal Kingdom. Gar Darja: was designed to protect the royals from enemies. It features a spacious patio and hidden chambers. Soldiers used to track down trespassers from the 'Gar' and perform surprise attacks to eliminate them.

Mrinmoyee Temple
Bishnupur's oldest temple, Mrinmoyee, was erected in 997 AD by King Jagat Malla. According to folklore, Maa Mrinmoyee told the king to build the temple in his dreams. Goddess Durga is adored here as Maa Mrinmoyee. Although the temple had to be reconstructed, the Ganga clay idol remained unharmed. Experience the oldest Durga Puja in Bengal (1021 years) and its rich tradition while immersed in a different flavor of religious love during the Puja. The celebration begins with the worship of "Baro thakurani," "Mejo thakurani," and "Choto thakurani" following the installation of a clay pot or "Ghat". A cannon is fired during the sacred "Mahastami- Sandhipuja" ceremony, and vegetables are sacrificed.

Jorbangla Temple
Raghunath Singh, the Malla king, built the Jorbangla temple: in 1655. The temple is one of West Bengal's best examples of terracotta art, with a unique architectural framework. The temple is referred to as "Jorbangla" because to its distinctive "Do Chala" shape. The temple's roof and double-sided curved thatch, known as the porch and shrine, are joined together. On its walls, you can admire beautiful clay sculptures depicting episodes from the Mahabharata, Ramayana, and Krishna's childhood. The panels painted with terracotta-tales depict epic incidents such as "Bhisma's Sarasajya," "Ram-Sita's Marriage," "Maa Parbati with her two children," "Balgopal's Activities," "Laxman and Surpanakha's Story," and many more.

Rasmancha
King Hambir build Rasmancha: the oldest brick temple, approximately 1600 AD. The exquisite temple is architecturally unique and unparalleled in Bengal and around the country. Rasmancha rises proudly on a laterite foundation, with a single chamber surrounded by hut-shaped castles and an elongated tower. You will observe a heritage crowned by a pyramidal superstructure and endowed with three circumbinary galleries, peaceful pillars, and intriguing arches with terracotta lotus designs. When you walk through the galleries in daylight, you can hear history whispering in your ears through the language of light and shade. The monument's glowing lights provide a thrilling atmosphere in the dark.

Shyam Rai Temple
The temple, established in 1643 by King Raghunath Singh, is commonly referred to as the 'Panch-chura' temple due to its five pinnacles. The temple is breathtaking, with triple-arched passageways on all four sides. It is one of Bishnupur's most popular attractions, thanks to the beautiful terracotta art forms on both inside and outside panels. Various religious scenes, such as 'Indra battling sitting on Oirabot,' 'Saga of Ram and Raban,' 'Glimpses of Krishna Lila,' 'love of Radha-Krishna,' 'Hunting scenarios from old civilization,' and so on, truly depict terracotta art at its best. Another highlight of this temple is a massive Raschakra depicting various forms of 'Radha-Krishna Lila amidst Gopinis'.

Jore Shreni Temple / Poramatir Haat Area
Jor Mandir: (which means "pair of temples") is actually a compound of three Eka-Ratna temples: two large temples of equal size and one small temple. Malla King Krishna Singh (pronounced sing-ho) built these shrines in 1726. These rust-colored laterite 'Eka-Ratna' or'single towered' temples are made of. The large temple has an 11.8m x 11.8m square base and stands 12.8m above a low platform. All three temples feature traditional Bengali 'chala' roofs topped by a'sikhara' or tower. Three covered porches surround the innermost shrine, which contains the idol. Except for the back wall, each of these three sides features three arched entrances.
